As we just mentioned the recurrent nature of conductive hearing loss can severely frustrate a child when trying to learn, as a consequence of this frustration, children with a history of CHL/OM may display inappropriate and aggressive behaviour to gain attention, be easily distracted and have short attention spans, demonstrate poor self esteem and feelings of alienation and may have a poor attendance record at school. For teachers and care-givers working with children with a history of CHL/OM, it is essential that we provide the child with a rich and supportive environment where they feel valued and worthwhile.
