Literacy – Voiceless Sounds

For Indigenous children the problem with voiceless sounds may be further compounded, voiceless sounds may not occur or may not be important in an Indigenous Childs home language. Indigenous children with a history of conductive hearing loss will often attempt to substitute the closest sound he or she recognises and will need to be taught the voiceless sounds not found in their home language.
